App of the day: Google Goggles

Google Goggles logoToday’s app of the day doesn’t disappoint. In fact, it’s from a company we know very very well – Google. They have come up with an app for both Android and iOS users called Google Goggles, that let’s you use your voice to search the web! Now I know what you’re thinking, that’s it? Nope.

Google Goggles, in addition to offering voice search, this app also let’s you take a photo of something and it will search the web for that item – I know, it’s mind-blowing how it works!

For those of you who need to see this in action, I’ve included a short video below along with my thoughts on this app below.

What I like about this app:

The fact that I can simply take a photo – of a monument, a person, a painting, even clothing or gadgets I don’t know the name of is pretty remarkable. This means more time to learn about new and interesting things! What I also like is that it takes the guesswork out of searching, especially when you find something you like, but don’t have the slightest clue who makes it.

How it works?

Google Goggles is pretty straight-forward. Find something you want to have Google search, launch the FREE app, and take a photo. The app does the rest of the work for you, identifying websites that match the photo.

Bonus:

Google Goggles is available for both Android and iPhone/iPad users. It is also a FREE download from each respective app store too!
